I’d like to introduce my most recent development project: Envelopes. It’s a very basic free online envelopes system, targeted for the iPhone, based on an envelopes budgeting system.
Envelopes Budget
Most notably known in relation to Dave Ramsey the envelopes budgeting system works very simply. At the beginning of the month or on pay day you put a certain amount of money into a set of envelopes. The envelopes are given labels based on what the money is budgeted for (ex. Groceries, Gas, Clothing, etc.). The idea is all the money in that envelope is spent on that category and only that category.
Envelopes App
The goal of this application was to provide and simple, light-weight solution to using an envelopes budgeting system without using cash. You create virtual envelopes and designate how much money will go into them. Then you add purchases and assign them to envelopes. You are then given current envelope totals and can review the purchases in each of your envelopes.
This is a very young application and I have a number of features that I would like to add. If you run into any problems or would like to request a new feature please feel free to let me know.
